“Never Again!”

After 1945, the world believed that it had drawn the fundamental lesson from National Socialism. The reassuring explanation was that a specifically German perpetrator mentality, combined with psychopathic monsters, had been the cause.

Yet the records of the American psychiatrist Dr Douglas Kelley revealed a far more disturbing truth. His examinations of the principal Nazi war criminals at Nuremberg showed:

There were no monsters sitting there. There were frighteningly normal, highly intelligent human beings.

Kelley’s uncomfortable warning — that the mechanisms of authority, obedience and the displacement of responsibility lie dormant in every society — was largely ignored at the time.

Nationality is not the key. The mechanism is the key — as Hannah Arendt recognised and Stanley Milgram later demonstrated experimentally.

This book breaks with the old myths of historical interpretation. It shows why power and obedience reinforce one another — and why evil does not need to be invented, only organised.

The decisive question for our future is therefore not:
How could this happen then?
But:
Why does it keep happening?

The book does not, however, stop at criticism. It develops a concrete model for the future: the Republic of Reason. Through the Making Existing Biological Intelligence Visible (SBBI), it outlines a system designed to make genuine direct democracy possible.

Instead of resting upon centralised rule, this order is based on feedback, transparency and personal responsibility. It returns decision-making to where, biologically, it belongs:
to the mature human being as sovereign.

A passionate plea for a common legal order that respects difference, origin and conditioning.
